The Motor Insurer’s Bureau of Ireland was established in 1955 by an Agreement between the Government and the companies underwriting motor insurance in Ireland for the purpose of compensating victims of road traffic accidents caused by uninsured or unidentified vehicles. Claims must be submitted in writing to the MIBI together with Garda Abstract, Medical Reports and all evident to try establish the identity or insurance of the offending vehicle.
